Why we love what we do
We have always been animal lovers, but when we became the owners of our Miniature Schnauzer, Hector, we became more aware of the plights of those dogs that were not as fortunate as Hector. We realised that the best way to help, is to support organisations that are actively involved in animal rescue, and so, Jou Ma Se Clothing was created (owners, Jo and Martin). The purpose being to sell pet related merchandise, for humans, such as T-shirts, stickers and Paws On Board signs and donate a portion of the proceeds to animal rescue.
Our first campaign was to raise funds and awareness against dog fighting. We felt this was the most cruel and inhumane sport man could weigh on his “best friend.” Since working with animal rescue organisations, we didn't realise how serious the problem is, not only for pit bulls, but for all dog breeds. We learnt that stray and abandoned animals are easy targets for theft and then used as bait and / or fighting. We realised helping these animals get off the streets and into a safe happy home will save them from a sad devastating life. With the funds raised we try help pay the forever increasing vet bills directly for the animal rescue organisations, thus knowing the funds go to a great cause and help the dog on the road to recovery.
Jou Ma Se Clothing has changed our lives. We have met so many amazing people in the "animal rescue world." Although at times, it can be very depressing, but there are those happy stories that keep you inspired to help on. Humans could definitely learn from our fur friends about caring,
that’s why our motto / wish is “For man to be a dog’s best friend”
Meaning behind the name
First on the list was to make sure to create a brand that is unique to South Africa. Owners, Jo and Martin, decided the perfect name for the business be, Jou Ma Se Clothing.
